As Michigan’s population ages, the demand for skilled professionals in senior care continues to grow. These dedicated individuals play a vital role in enhancing the lives of older adults, ensuring their well-being, and providing essential support.
Selecting a mission-driven, not-for-profit care setting means caring for people over profits. LeadingAge Michigan members strive to provide the highest quality, compassionate care for Michigan’s older adults at every point of their life’s journey.
If you are passionate about making a difference and seeking a fulfilling career, consider the diverse pathways within senior care. From caregivers and patient advocates to certified nurses and recreational therapists, you will engage in Work That Matters every day.
The Not-for-profit provider community recognizes that the most crucial aspect of long-term services and supports is the human connection between the consumer and those providing care. With hands and hearts gentle yet purposeful, those who choose Work That Matters serve everyday, stepping in to assist with bathing, dressing, and the daily routines of life… and so much more. They preserve the individual’s self-respect and dignity. These seemingly simple acts are profound – they affirm that our older adults are valued and worthy of care and kindness.
As not-for-profit, mission driven providers, LeadingAge Michigan’s members support and acknowledge their professional senior care workers, understanding the life-changing impact they make every day on so many lives.
To effectively address the state’s critical shortage of nursing home professionals and senior care professionals, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) selected LeadingAge Michigan in August 2023 for a $5.1 million workforce stabilization grant. LeadingAge Michigan is using the funds to deploy a data-driven approach for nursing home staff recruitment and retention. The primary goal is to directly solicit, measure and share workforce input on the root causes of the workforce crisis post pandemic.
LeadingAge Michigan’s grant
is part of MDHHS’s Nursing Home Workforce Stabilization program to address the state’s workforce crisis. The $67 million allocation will help nursing homes and not-for-profit healthcare training organizations stabilize and improve staffing in long-term care settings. The program runs through 2026.
